Mya Lesnar, a CSU student-athlete, made university history in June when she won the shot put competition at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

She became the first Ram thrower in program history to win an indoor and an outdoor national championship. Her top throw measured 62 feet, 4.5 inches.

The outdoor championship was her final collegiate competition, coming shortly after Lesnar graduated from CSU with a bachelor’s degree in social work.

“It was awesome,” Lesnar said after her win, crediting her coach, Brian Bedard, with her success. “Sometimes, I get a little too serious. There’s a time and place for that. I think I decided today, my last collegiate meet, I was going to have fun, trust the process, and get it done.”

After her outdoor championship, Lesnar was named Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year in the Mountain West Conference. That came on the heels of four first-team All-American honors. In addition, Sportswomen of Colorado named Lesnar the 2024 College Track and Field Athlete of the Year.
